Ronald J. Masiero Sr., age 78, of Shelton, beloved husband of Eileen “Lolly” (Wilson) Masiero, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 23, 1942 in Englewood, NJ, he was a son of the late Elso and Malvina (Scalenghe) Masiero. A graduate of Iona College, he started his career with American Progressive Insurance Company. In 1973, Ron joined Gerber Life Insurance Company and retired from his position as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board in 2002.

Ron was an avid sports fan and played softball into his 70’s with the Shelton Adult Softball League, for Blanchette’s Sporting Goods. He loved playing golf and basketball. Ron was very proud to have been able to visit every major league baseball stadium, with the exception of the Colorado Rockies. His grandsons, son, and brother traveled with him for some or all of these games. While snowbirding with Lolly in Florida, he enjoyed attending the Mets spring training games.

Ron honorably served as a volunteer fireman for White Hills Company #5, where he also was a past Treasurer. He also sat as a member of the Juvenile Review Board in Shelton. Ron was the rarest of men – a true intellectual and a trusted friend and confidant. Above all however, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
