Tommy Nason Kellogg, 85, of South Glastonbur­y and formerly of Old Greenwich, loving husband of 30 years of Camille (Leone) Kellogg, peacefully journeyed Home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 29, 2021 with his caring family by his side. Born in Ava, Missouri on March 29, 1936, a son of the late Charles and Bessie (Robertson) Kellogg, he had resided in Old Greenwich for 22 years prior to moving to South Glastonbur­y in 2012. Tommy graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics from Drury College, class of 1958, a M.A. degree in Economics & Marketing from Michigan State University, and his J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Tommy began his career at Employers of Wausau Insurance and retired in May 2001 after 33 years of service from General Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n and General Re Corporatio­n, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. He retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of General Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n, and Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of General Re Corporatio­n, the holding company. During his years of service as an expert, Tommy served on numerous insurance/ reinsuranc­e committees dealing with industry wide challenges. He appeared as a speaker and as a panel member for numerous industry trade and special interest associatio­ns. After his initial retirement, Tommy became an Executive with the W.R. Berkley Corporatio­n, where he was chairman of its lead reinsuranc­e company, Signet Star Holdings, Inc. At W.R. Berkley, Tommy helped form Berkley Capital Underwrite­rs, LLC. In 1991 he was a special Honoree in the Registry of “Who’s Who of American Business Leaders”, and in 1992 was named Board Trustee Member of the College of Insurance. He was also a Life Trustee on Drury University’s Board of Trustees.

A man of great faith, he was a benefactor of the Ava General Baptist Church in his hometown in Ava, MO. Tom enjoyed traveling with his beloved Camille, with some of his favorite trips being to the Holy Land, Paris, China, and throughout Europe. He also enjoyed his many years at his Vermont home in Chester, VT, skiing, playing golf, gardening, and monitoring the stock market. A sports enthusiast, he was a loyal and avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers; going to Lambeau Field was one of his highlights in being true fan. A proud and devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r, Tommy cherished his time with Camille and his entire family.

In addition to his beloved wife Camille, Tommy is survived by three sons: Todd Kellogg and his wife Bonnie of Trumbull, Christophe­r Kellogg of Vermont, and Larry Bledsoe of Encinitas, CA; two adored grandchild­ren, Benjamin and Samuel; a special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Leone and her two daughters, Marisa Maldonado and Vanessa Leone and their families of East Hartford, along with several nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and dear friends. He also leaves behind his lifelong friends, Charles and Shirley Mason and many cousins throughout the Midwest.

Tommy was especially thankful for the dedicated care he received from his primary caregiver, Maxine Henry. Carisa Glover and Hilda Espinosa are also recognized for their devoted caregiving over the past three years.

Funeral service will be Wednesday (April 7, 2021) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christophe­r Church of St.

Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. Due to the current health pandemic, everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Wednesday morning and wear a face covering while adhering to all of the regulation­s by the CDC, state, and church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in Tommy’s name may be made to the Ava General Baptist Church Memorial Board, P.O. Box 116, Ava, MO 65608. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangemen­ts.
