Michael C. Johnson
Michael C. Johnson of Woodbury passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 31, 2021. He was born January 17, 1950 in Bridgeport, CT. He graduated from Notre Dame H.S. in Bridgeport and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where he would excel as a student teacher in their Architectural program.
After graduation he enjoyed spending time living in places like Bogata, Columbia and Boulder, CO. In addition to working in the field of energy conservation, his love of wood led him to a lifetime career in carpentry and woodworking. His master craftsmen level skills and problem solving abilities, whether it was building an entire structure or making simple repairs, endeared him to all.
Michael is remembered as a voracious reader with unbounded curiosity and a seemingly infinite knowledge of many and varied subjects. He was often inspired by comedy and had a valued sense of humor that will surely be missed by all who knew him. He loved folk, blues, and traditional music. He enjoyed playing guitar with his friends but his favorite instrument to play was the penny whistle. He loved nature, art, and creative endeavors. He had a fondness for the sea and loved being on the water as a result of having spent countless hours fishing and lobstering with his father in Long Island Sound. He was known to be an exceptionally kind, empathic, and caring individual, whose presence brought joy to all who encountered him. He had a natural affinity with children and animals as a result of his profound loving energy.
He was the husband of Diane Hebb Johnson and the son of the late William Claude and Genevieve Kane Johnson of Fairfield. He is survived by his wife and sisters and brother, Karen (Alfred) Jennings of Fairfield, Mary Ellen (Tom Cappell) Johnson of Sioux Lookout, Canada, William of Leverett, MA, and Patricia Perno of East Haven. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and his favorite canine, Meatloaf.
