Bridgeport police seize 18 illegal guns in March
BRIDGEPORT — In March, a team of task force officers in Bridgeport seized more than a dozen guns, including at least one “ghost” gun, which are banned in the Park City.
Bridgeport police task force officers assigned to various units within the Connecticut State Police investigated several cases of reported illegal gun activity last month in an attempt to reduce gunrelated crime citywide.
“As part of strategic crime prevention measures, the Bridgeport Police Department continues to most frequently patrol areas of the city guided by patterns of gun activity identified by ShotSpotter notifications to mitigate violent crimes and improve public safety,” police said in a statement.
On March 1, investigators seized a pistol grip shotgun, an AR-15 assault rifle, a revolver, ammunition, narcotics and about $!0,000 in cash during an investigation on East Main Street.
An East Avenue investigation on March 4 led to the seizure of a sawedoff shotgun, a semi-automatic gun and ammunition.
On March 9, a Soundview Avenue investigation led investigators to a .40caliber Glock with a laser sight and a 30-round magazine.
An investigation on Roselee Avenue on March 11 led to the seizure of a .40caliber semi-automatic gun, ammunition, over a kilo of narcotics and money.
That same day, a James Street investigation led investigators to a Glock, a 30-round magazine, more than kilo of narcotics, over $50,000, a 2020 Honda Accord, precious metals and jewelry.
An investigation that took law enforcement to Shelton on March 12 led investigators to seize a semi-automatic firearm with ammunition.
During a Maple Street investigators on March 16, police seized a Berretta 9mm with ammunition and narcotics.
That same day on Chamberlain Avenue, investigators seized an AR-15 assault rifle ghost gun, a 100-round drum, a 30round magazine and ammunition.
A March 18 investigation took law enforcement to Milford, where they seized a semi-automatic gun, ammunition and a kilo of cocaine.
The final Bridgeport operation last month, on March 22, led to the seizure of six semi-automatic guns, an assault rifle, two 50-round drums, ammunition, over 40 pounds of marijuana and more than two kilos of narcotics.
