Joyce Margaret (Arszyla) Nastu, high school sweetheart and beloved wife of Phil Nastu suddenly passed away on October 30, 2021. Joyce was predecease­d by her parents Henry and Catharine (Larkin) Arszyla, father and mother-in-law Aurely (Ray) and Sofia (Cipu) Nastu, and twin sisters Barbara Pratt and Janice Ceisielski. Joyce was a proud lifelong Bridgeport resident, one of nine children who grew up in the South End. She worked in the insurance industry as an office manager for over 25 years at Hub Internatio­nal.

The pride and joy of her life, along with Phil, were here sons Christophe­r and Lee, devoted daughter-inlaw Jody, and treasured grandsons Elijah and Jackson, who lovingly referred to her as their “Maia”. She was their superhero, and they were her everything. Along with her family, anyone who knew “Butch” knew how much she loved the Mets. Winning or losing, she remained their loyal and true fan. She was a “career sports wife and mom” as well, never missing her boys’ games.

In addition to her loving husband, sons, daughterin-law and grandsons, she is survived by her siblings. Nancy and Jim St. Pierre, Karen and Mark Marko, Maureen Arszyla and Ralph, Ken and Marianne Arszyla, Tom and Sandee

Arszyla, Cathy and Ralph Herndandez, sister-in-law Marie and Joe Norko, John and Deb Nastu, eleven cherished nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. in The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am in the funeral home followed by interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. To honor Joyce’s respect for Covid protocols, face masks are requested. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, Princeton, NJ 08540. in memory of Joyce.
