Elvira DaGraca Carloto Ferreira, age 97, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Luis Francisco Ferreira, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Born on October 8, 1924 in Faioes, Chaves, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Ismenia DaGraca Carloto. Along with her family, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1976 and settled in Bridgeport. She was a hardworkin­g woman and had strong family values. Dedicated to her Catholic faith, she was a parishione­r of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport and St. Jude Church, Monroe. Elvira had a special place in her heart for those less fortunate and always gave what she could to help those in need and prayed for everyone daily. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r who cared deeply for her family. The values she taught, and the unconditio­nal love she gave will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. Elvira will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her loving daughter, Maria Bigelow and her husband Alan of Monroe, three cherished grandchild­ren, Jennifer Cannon, and Jeffrey and Justin Bigelow, two adored great granddaugh­ters, Karley and Kaylee, a brother, Anibal Carloto and his wife Judite of Beacon Falls, brother-in-law Manuel Ferreira and his wife

Otilia of Portugal, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by seven siblings. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Lord Chamberlai­n, especially the second floor, for their compassion and dedicated care given to Elvira.

Funeral services will take place on Monday November 29, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, the family request all attending the visiting hours Sunday please consider bring a nonperisha­ble food item to be donated to the food pantry in Elvira’s name; there will be a basket for collection at the funeral home Sunday.
