Rudolf E. Basztura Jr., age 79, of Trumbull, passed away in Gaylord Hospital in Wallingfor­d on November 29, 2021. He was born in Bridgeport to the late Rudolf Basztura and Stasia (Turek) and was a lifelong area resident. Rudy attended Fairfield Prep and Penn where he played football. He spent his entire career as a software engineer at PerkinElme­r. He loved reading mysteries and historical novels, building model boats and planes, painting, fishing and Maine family vacations. He loved children, and coached soccer, baseball, basketball and Pop Warner football. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchild­ren compete. He was proud when Matt ‘s Little League team won the World Championsh­ip in 1989, and saw Andrea inducted into Colgate’s Hall of Honor for field hockey and softball. He was proud of his grandchild­ren’s accomplish­ments on the ball fields, in field hockey, lacrosse,Tang-SoDo (2 second-degree Black Belts), x-Country track, and Ben’s state wrestling championsh­ip. Rudy was a car enthusiast and member of BMWCCA. He enjoyed attending Fairfield U. athletic events. He loved traveling with Cheryl to over 60 countries. He was a jokester, and they shared many laughs.

He is survived by Cheryl, his wife of 50 years of Trumbull; his children, Andrea and her husband Gary Rubin of Virginia, Matthew Basztura and his wife Melissa of Georgia; his grandchild­ren Madeleine, Benjamin, Kathryn, Vincent, Vianna, Valena; his brother-in law Lynn Davis (wife Sandra), sisters-in-law Constance Davis and Marcia Davis-Cannon.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Rudolf on Friday December 3, at 11:00 directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd. Trumbull, CT. The mass will be live streamed from https://stcathtrum­bull.com. Inurnment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marine Toys for Tots, 18251 Quantico Gate Way Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
