Paul Francis Valko, 73, of Havelock, NC passed away April 19, 2022, at Carolina East Medical Center.

A Prayer Service, with military honors, will be held at 3:30 p.m., April 24th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Paul was born on October 27, 1948, to the late Frank and Emily Valko. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticu­t and grew up in Shelton, Connecticu­t.

Paul served his country with strength and valor in the United States Marine Corps. As one of the many brave men who fought in the Vietnam War, Paul was extremely proud of his service and the sacrifice he gave during one of the longest conflicts in our country’s history.

Following the military, Paul earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven in Connecticu­t. Working most of his adult life as a land surveyor, it was a rewarding career which he greatly enjoyed. In 2005, he and his wife moved to the South where they resided in Craven County, North Carolina.

He is survived by his sons, Toby Valko (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, CO, Chris Valko ( Jill) of New Hartford, CT, and Andrew Valko of Havelock, NC; sisters, Annie Pannella (Dennis) and Amalia Valko, all of Shelton, CT; and grandchild­ren, Ryan Valko, Caitlyn Valko, Samantha Valko, Nia Valko and Owen Valko.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Haskell Valko in 2008.
