Bertram (Burt) J. Hopper Jr.

Bertram John Hopper, Jr., of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully April 20, 2022. Born In New York City on Oct. 15, 2022, he was the son of the late Bertram John Hopper, Sr. and Marion Finn Hopper.

He graduated from Cheshire Academy, Cheshire, CT and attended Yale University on full scholarshi­p. Due to World War II, he was offered a special program, whereby he would attend the Naval Academy at Annapolis in his senior year at Yale. He graduated from Midshipman School of Annapolis and Yale in 1944. He was stationed in Hawaii during the war and was Lieutenant JG and Ship’s Engineer on the USS Corregidor, an escort carrier. After the war, he began his career as a chemical engineer with various companies, including General Electric and Constructo­rs John Brown. He was a past master of Fidelity Lodge, AF and AM, Fairfield, CT; and several times past patron of the OES in Bridgeport, CT.

He is survived by his daughters, Claire Ervin (Craig) of Fairfield, CT, Dorothy Lupariello (Daniel) of Shelton, CT; his granddaugh­ters, Sarah Hubert ( John) and Kristin Maier; and his grandsons, Gregory and Kyle Hopper, and Frank Lupariello. Also, his greatgrand­children, John Hubert

III and Craig Hubert, Analise Hubert, and Maria Maier. He was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Virginia Snow Hopper; his son, Charles Hopper; and his brother, Donald Hopper.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT, with the Reverend Cleavan Johnson officiatin­g. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery.
