Albina Mary Cappiello

-

Our beloved Albina Mary (AL) passed away peacefully in her home at sunrise, on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the age of 95. Her daughters, Nora and Angela, were loving caregivers until her passing. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Albina was the only daughter of Leanora and David Mezias. She grew up with five brothers: Casmir, Fred, Mario, Mac, and Tony, all servicemen in the US military. Albina was predeceased by her husband, Michael A. Cappiello, Jr.; and her son, Dr. Michael A. Cappiello, III. She was a devout Catholic, lifelong parishioner of St. Augustine’s Cathedral, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She enjoyed her summers at the family beach house in Lordship, CT, for more than five decades. Some of Albina’s favorite activities included holidays and family dinners, spending time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, and playing Scrabble and Rummikub with friends. She was a fierce competitor and amazing with facts and vocabulary from her avid pastime of reading novels and doing crossword puzzles. Albina was well-travelled internationally, having visited Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Austria, and in more recent years, enjoyed winter vacations with her daughters in Aruba. Albina always wanted to join the fun and never missed a beat. Whether she was baking holiday cookies and Easter pies, taking road trips with family, and even once taking a college class with her granddaughter, Albina embraced life and was always ready for the next adventure. She loved cookies (all kinds), fudge ripple ice cream, and her afternoon cup of tea. She will forever be remembered for her quote “looks good enough to eat” before eating and her prayers before meals.

In addition to her daughters, Nora and Angela, she is survived by nine grandchildren: Michael’s children: Melissa Ann, Michael IV, Mark and Laura Beth; Nora’s children: Christina, Christopher and Cara; and Angela’s children: Jenelle and Connor. Mom also had 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and neighbors.

Her last years put the “golden” in all of ours. She will be greatly missed.
