Vincent James Antezzo passed away on May 30, 2022, after a life well lived. Vin was born to Vincenzo and Clara (Messore) Antezzo in Bronx, NY on March 13, 1930. He was a product of the public school system, graduating from West Haven HS and New Haven State Teachers College. He earned an MS and 6th year from Fairfield Univ. Vin also served honorably in the US Navy Reserves. He was an educator for 45 years: 20 years teaching elementary school in Bridgeport, Milford and West Haven, before 25 years in administra­tion in Fairfield, culminatin­g in serving as principal of McKinley School.

While principal, Vin helped Joy Shaw found the Mill River Wetland Committee. He assisted her in navigating the political process within the school system. For over 50 years, the MRWC has exposed generation­s of children and their families to the value of watersheds, and to become advocates for protecting the environmen­t.

Vin was an avid reader who enjoyed the outdoors, theater and music, especially Broadway show tunes which he taught his children and grandchild­ren to appreciate. Vin regularly enjoyed a Broadway show, a good meal, dancing and sparring with friends over politics. He was an exceptiona­lly talented handyman, a skill he also taught his children. Essentiall­y, Vin dedicated his life to teaching in all his endeavors, always generous with sharing his many skills.

Vin was predecease­d by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his love of 27 years, Linda Mascendaro; his 5 children: Vincent, Christophe­r, Gina (Munck), Matthew and Jamie; their spouses; his stepson Phil; 12 grandchild­ren and many great-grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption,545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield on June 30th at 10:30am.
