Stephen John Sharnick, age 32 of Stratford, died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Stephen was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and Fairfield University, majoring in Political Science with minors in Irish History and English. Stephen most recently worked as a researcher at Save the Children, a job that he loved. For anyone who knew Stephen, they also knew of his many interests. He was an avid NY Rangers and Mets fan and loved music (especially Metallica). He was obsessed with politics, and one of his fondest memories was canvassing with his wife, Michelle, for Bernie Sanders during the 2020 election. He was always researching something, whether it be the JFK assassination or how to care for a dogwood tree. Stephen was a wealth of knowledge about the many things he was interested in. His love for Ireland was apparent to anyone who met him. Stephen always talked about his childhood memories spending summers in Clohanmore in County Clare. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about Irish politics and loved a properly poured Guinness in an Irish pub, listening to traditional music. He leaves behind many beloved friends and family in the country he called home. Most of all, Stephen loved being a father. From the moment his son Finn was born, it was love at first sight. He was a natural. His favorite thing in the world was playing with Finn after a long day. He was also the most loving and caring husband and cherished both of those roles very much.
