Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas spent all but two games last season sidelined recovering from a torn Achilles.

Not even a full year after her return, Thomas has been named a WNBA AllStar.

Thomas and fellow Sun forward Brionna Jones were named 2022 WNBA All-Star reserves Tuesday. The All-Star selection was Thomas’ third of her career — she was selected in 2017 and 2019 — and Jones’ second (2021).

Sun leading scorer and rebounder Jonquel Jones was named an All-Star starter last week. The trio will take part in the AllStar game at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on July 10 at 1 p.m. (ABC).

Thomas, who leads the Sun in assists (5.8 per game) and steals (1.4) is an eight-year veteran who has played every season in Connecticut. She was named both the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week (May 16-22) and the Player of the Month (May) after averaging 15.7 points and 8 rebounds during the first month of the season this spring.

Brionna Jones, last season’s WNBA Most Improved Player, ranks third in the league in both fieldgoal percentage (56.4%) and offensive-rebound percentage

(11.3%). The six-year veteran is third on the Sun with 13.8 points per game and leads with 2.7 offensive boards per game. Currently, she averages 13.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals.

The All-Star Team cocaptains (Breanna Stewart and Sylvia Fowles against A’ja Wilson and Sue Bird) will draft their respective rosters Saturday, July 2 at 3 p.m. ET.
