Always singing, she even performed once live on the radio (rumor has it, preceding Frank Sinatra) and once on TV. Hilda’s love of music extended to the dance floor, where her lindy flair, shoulder shimmy and exquisite timing was on display at family weddings well into her 90s. Early on, Hilda worked at Macy’s Herald Square and then Sikorsky Aircraft as a riveter after moving to CT. Later in life, Hilda represented the Hoover Company and finally worked as a real estate agent until the age of 75. Throughout, her role as wife, mom and gram was central to who she was. With her move to Southbury from Monroe, Hilda became an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church. She volunteered in the church kitchen making sandwiches and lending support to the bereaved. Hilda was vibrant walker, a member of the Heritage Village Hiking Club, Italian Renaissance Club and duck pin bowler. Hilda will be remembered as an honest, strong, forthright and fiercely independent woman. She lived alone until she was 98.
