Games to watch
St. Joseph at Fairfield (Wonderland), Wednesday, 6 p.m.: The Cadets have played a lot of good teams well this year, most recently tying No. 6 Simsbury on the road. Earlier this year in Shelton, they held Fairfield to within two goals.
Fairfield Prep at Mount Saint Charles (R.I.) (Adelard), Wednesday, 6 p.m.: You know how Notre Dame-West Haven coach Larry Vieira said he adopted the heavy out-of-state schedule from Fairfield Prep? Weeks like this are what he had in mind, when the Jesuits play three games in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including this weekend’s Pope Francis Invitational in West Springfield.
Sheehan at Lyman (Northford), Wednesday, p.m.: The Battle of Wallingford was a 2-2 tie in mid-January when Sheehan had the last change. Both these teams, the Trojans especially, can use the points.
Hall 8:30 Milford at Wilton (Winter Garden), Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.:
It’s been a tough year for Milford, but its win came against Wilton in early January. It took a couple of more games for the Warriors, who sat out last season because of numbers, to catch their stride but they soon won four in a row. So this in its way is a bit of an interesting rematch.
Hand at Branford (Northford), Saturday, 7:30 p.m.: Two scrappy teams – between them, they’ve played 10 one-goal games – meet up.
Fairfield at New Canaan (Darien Ice), Monday, 7:10 p.m.: The two top-five teams played a tight one at Wonderland a couple of weeks ago, with an empty-netter giving Fairfield a 3-1 win.
