Robert Carl Streich

1930 - 2022

Robert (Bob) Carl Streich, 92 of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2022, in Groton, Connecticut. Bob was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to parents Amelia (Gollenberg) Streich and Carl Streich on October 29, 1930. Bob resided in Bridgeport for 88 years before moving to Groton. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He attended Zion Lutheran School and Central High School. Bob worked as a dance instructor, car salesperson, real estate broker, and retail product promotor. As an inspiring entrepreneur, Bob started his own delivery service which provided fresh poultry products to homes and businesses throughout the region.

Bob’s love of fishing and nature were a common theme throughout his life. When he was eighteen, he bought property in Lake Forest and eventually constructed a home where he resided with his loving wife and children. Bob was president of the Lake Forest Association Sportsman’s Club, he was a Naval Veteran, and a member of the Port Five National Association of Veterans.

Upon retirement, Bob wintered in Barefoot Bay, Florida where he spent time with family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors. He was also a member of the

Barefoot Bay Connecticut Club.

Bob lived his life to the fullest. He traveled, danced, and entertained. Bob’s love of the outdoors, fishing, and nature are instilled in the hearts and minds of his family and friends and anyone else who had the pleasure of spending time with him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Henrietta (Farrell) Streich, and his two daughters, Karen A. Cloutier (Bob) and Kelly L. Streich-Gates (Matt); grandchildren: Finian Gates and Adrik Gates; his sister Helen S. Mead (Tom); nephews: Tim Haffner, Russ Haffner and Carl Laflin (Laura); and a grandniece Hannah Laflin. He was preceded in death by his parents Amelia (Gollenberg) and Carl Streich; his sister Edith Laflin ( John); and niece Joan Cuda.
