Salvatore J. Brunetto (Sal, Sam) formerly of Bridgeport and Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023. Salvatore was born in Wallingfor­d, CT on March 31, 1927, to his loving parents Rosario and Josephine Brunetto. He grew up in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from Harding High School. It was here that he met the love of his life, Lucille, at a football game. He was sitting behind her, tugged on her hair, and that was that.

Salvatore, is survived by his loving family, daughter Sally Brunetto Wade (Brian) Melbourne, FL, his sons Michael Brunetto (Lori) Fairfield, CT, Richard Brunetto (Bree), Bridgeport, CT, and Salvatore J. Brunetto, Jr. (MaryAnne) Stratford, CT. He is also survived by his loving grandsons Joseph Gribok Derry, NH, Christophe­r Brunetto Fairfield, CT, Michael Brunetto ( Jaclyn) Fairfield, CT, Timothy Brunetto (Laura) Fairfield, CT, Matthew Brunetto (Caitlin) Bristol, CT, Daniel Brunetto Bridgeport, CT, and his beloved granddaugh­ter Maggie Lucille Wyant (Chris) Ansonia, CT. He is also survived by 11 loving great-grandchild­ren Joshua, Kaden, Olivia, Eli, Natalia, Emmie, Milo, Gabriella, Shaylee, Amelia, and Wesley. Many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Salvatore was predecease­d by his wife Lucille, parents Rosario and Josephine Brunetto, brothers Domenic, Rosario, and niece Barbara Horwath.

He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and was on his way to Japan when the Japanese surrendere­d. Salvatore worked at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT after leaving the Navy. He and a partner had a television repair business in the mid-1950s. Salvatore and his brothers opened Bru-Conte’s Riviera restaurant (in an old sea captain’s home) in 1958/1959 - 1970. Unfortunat­ely, it burned down in 1970. He then went on his own to purchase Brunetto’s Blue Goose in Stratford, CT. After many years in the restaurant business, he went into the food distributi­on service until his retirement. He loved his home in Florida and enjoyed going to the end of the pier to fish and watch the dolphins and manatees. In Florida, he rode his bicycle most days. Eventually he and his wife, Lucille, moved back to CT to live near their sons and grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n Mass of Salvatore’s life will be held at 10:00 am on February 25, 2023, at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, 545 Stratfield Rd, Fairfield, CT 06825. Burial will follow immediatel­y at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, CT.
