Just Salad , a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in fresh salads and bowls, is celebrating its grand opening in Fairfield this week. The new spot is at 2267 Black Rock Turnpike.

At Just Salad, guests can choose from salads, wraps, warm bowls, avocado toast, soups and smoothies, with build-your-own options featuring choice of base, proteins, toppings and dressings. Pre-designed salads and bowls feature Mediterranean, Asian and southwestern flavors, with proteins like chicken, Beyond plantbased chicken and tofu.

Guests can filter menu choices by diet or lifestyle, including vegan, glutenfree, keto, paleo and climatarian, where diners factor in the carbon footprint of their order. Just Salad is one of the first U.S. restaurant chains to offer carbon labels on each menu item, the company notes. The restaurant features a reusable program as part of its climate initiatives, offering guests the option to buy a reusable bowl for $1. Customers who re-use the bowl for in-store orders will receive one free topping.

National salad-centric restaurant chains have been making inroads in Connecticut in the past few years. CAVA and Sweetgreen have Greenwich locations, with another Sweetgreen planned for Darien. In June, Chopt opened its first greater Hartford restaurant in Glastonbury, joining Fairfield County outposts in Greenwich and Stamford.

Another is planned for West Hartford.

As part of its grand opening promotions, Just Salad will offer $5 meals to every customer who orders in-store from March 2 to 4, between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. On March 7, Just Salad will offer $5 meals for reusable bowl customers. The restaurant will also offer $5 meals to community workers who buy meals instore on March 8.

Just Salad was founded in 2006, and has more than 70 locations across across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Dubai.

The Fairfield restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
