Irene A. Mercer (Renie), age 96, of Bridgeport, loving wife of the late Daniel S. Mercer, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on February 19, 1927 to the late Robert F. Farrell, Sr. and Irene Kiely Farrell, Irene graduated from Harding High School and Butler Business School. She was a secretary to the manager of the Barnum Hotel for a number of years. Irene and her late husband, Daniel, also lived in Gold Beach, Oregon for ten years where Irene worked in the insurance industry.

Irene, affectionately known as Aunt Renie, is survived by her loving sister, Mary L. Haight of Bridgeport, nieces and nephews, Bryan (Lewann) Haight; Maureen (Mario) Silveira; Thomas (Melody) Haight; Robert F. Farrell, III (Cindy); Timothy C. Farrell (Sue); and numerous additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and great-greatnieces/nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by a brother, Robert F. Farrell, Jr., two nephews, two great-nephews, and several brothersin-law and sisters-in-law.

A particular mention to Aunt Renie’s nephew, Bryan, who was always available to ensure Aunt Renie was cared for. Additionally, thanks to Angelica and Amari for their kind and caring support.

Aunt Renie was a big (if not the biggest) fan of American singer, actor, television host and rodeo performer Roy Rogers. As such, we bid farewell to Aunt Renie from this physical life and offer a Roy Rogers quote: “Until we meet again, may the good Lord take a liking to you”.

Friends may call Friday, November 17 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. meeting directly at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
