Chester (Czeslow) Edward Jackiewicz, 85, of Sun City, Bluffton, SC, formerly of Fairfield, Trumbull and Monroe, CT, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Chester was born July 20, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Polikarp Jackiewicz and Mariann Galanek Jackiewicz. He was the first graduating class at Andrew Warde H.S. in 1957.

He served in the US Army Reserves for several years. He also worked for A & M Distributers and later Paul Francis & Company as a Color Professional in the Auto Paint Industry for 51 years. He had an eye for color and could tell you which exact hues made up each shade of paint. Once Chester and his wife, Irene, moved to the Bluffton, SC, he began working at Moss Creek Community as a Golf Ranger in 2009 and advanced to Golf Starter until the present. He loved all of his members.

Chester had a love for golf and a passion for cars, especially his 1979 Chevrolet Black “T” Top Corvette. He enjoyed volunteering with many organizations with his wife and through the Sun City Lions Club. Most importantly, he loved and valued time with his family. One of his favorite memories was going to Connecticut in July to celebrate his birthday with his family and friends. He would always like doing things with his grandsons, like helping with projects on their homes to buffing imperfections on their cars or trucks. He taught them the value of family and he was always there when they needed anything, from a ride to school or just to sit down and shoot the breeze. He took a cruise in 2018 with his wife because it was on her “Bucket List not his” he did not like the water. That goes to show what kind of man he was. He adored her as she did him. Everyone knew him as a kind and gentle man. He was very devoted to his faith and church.

Chester is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Fulop Jackiewicz; daughters, Cynthia Ambrosey (Leon) of Monroe, CT and Theresa Ann Jackiewicz of Stevensville, MT; sister, Mary Oros ( Joseph); grandchildren, Robert Ambrosey (Shannon), (great-granddaughter Aubrey) and a great-granddaughter due June 2024; Bryan Ambrosey (fiancée Alicia Roberts), and Andrew Ambrosey, sisters-in law Margaret Scaringella and Marge Fulop. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and motherin-law, Stephen and Erma (Irene) Samu-Fulop, brother, Edward (Wilma) Jackiewicz and sisters, Helen (Willliam) Kallay and Nellie ( John) Haydu and brothers-in-law, Stephen J. Fulop and Frances R. Fulop.

A Memorial Mass will be held in Connecticut at St. Jude’s / Roman Catholic Church in Monroe, CT on February 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., and his final Resting Mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and Columbarium, Bluffton, SC, at a later date. Sauls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929, Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Capitol Needs Fund, 31 St. Gregory Dr., Bluffton, SC 29910, or the charity of your choice.
