Wake Up Your Walls

-

1. WALLPAPER. Nothing transforms a wall like wallpaper. “If we had our druthers, we would wallpaper as many rooms in a house as our clients would allow,” Emily says. “It can instantaneously change the look and feel of a room, and if you lack art, just wallpaper.”

Wall treatments can work wonders when it comes to changing the look of a home, and there are so many treatments to choose from. Here are Emily and Stephanie’s most commonly used wall treatments.

2. BEADBOARD/SHIPLAP. Beadboard is the ultimate wall treatment for a cottage, as it adds a dimension to the walls that automatically takes them from city to country.

3. WALL PANELING. If you want to take an ordinary room and make it extraordinary, try paneling the walls. “It instantly elevates a room,” Emily says.

4. COLOR BLOCKING. “Color blocking a wall in a room is a great way to draw attention to either the wall or what sits against it, whether it’s a bed or a gorgeous sofa,” Emily says. It’s a great and inexpensive trick to add interest to a room.

A stunning Lotus Paper from Farrow and Ball is a favorite of hers and was selected because “it feels traditional and old school while at the same time is current.”
