A screened-in porch is the ultimate way to bring the outdoors in.

RIGHT AT HOME. The screened-in porch is a sleek, chic entertaining space. The plank flooring is pretreated lumber that was sealed for a rustic, outdoors-in look. Joann repurposed the plant hanger from a coat rack’s wooden backing with hooks and an open fretwork design. She looped jute strings through the etched open spots, and used cup hooks to hang them at different levels. Her kitchen-sink window is in front of it, so as she’s doing dishes she can see the plants. The unusual ceiling is designed with trim board and painted with a semi-gloss paint.
