Destination Nantucket
Summertime means travel, and this getaway is classically cottage.
Just off the bustle of Main Street, Union Street Inn is ideally located in the heart of Nantucket. A refurbished 1770 whaling captain’s home, Union Street Inn has the feel and beauty of a historic seaside treasure.
The 12 rooms that comprise the inn are furnished in classic cottage colors. Some tout gorgeous wallpaper, giving guests a taste of design elements they might not have taken the leap to do in their own homes. Fun patterns and chic colors are paired to create rooms that each have a unique personality.
Union Street Inn also boasts a lovely garden. The patio is host to afternoon treats and delicious morning breakfasts. Throughout July and August, Nantucket comes alive with many summer activities. The Fourth of July is celebrated with fireworks and patriotic main street events. If you are a runner, you are in luck! Multiple races take place in July with the Firecracker 5K, the Race for Open Space, the Nantucket Triathlon, and the Jog in the Fog. One of the biggest events in July is the Farm Fresh Feast, a cocktail party followed by a gourmet dinner with auctions, live music and dancing all taking place in the open fields of Nantucket.
As summer goes on, August offers Nantucket by Design, held by the Nantucket Historical Association. Visitors can enjoy lectures and panel discussions about the creative and inspirational design world. Or get hands-on with your treasure hunting at Dreamland Summer Cocktails and the Nantucket Summer Antiques Show.
