Project Spec Basics

Good space planning is all about addressing your basic needs. Here are some of Katie and Ryan’s must-haves.

Workspaces: Ryan works from home, I blog at home and the kids homeschool, so we will need to have work space for each member of our family.

A Clutter-Free Kitchen: We want to hide all our small appliances, yet be able to keep them out, since some of these appliances are heavy to lift. So having a walk-in/butler’s pantry is a must.

Family Friendly Layout: Our home needs to be an accommodating place for both kids and adults. When we have families over, it’ll be great to have a place for the adults to hang out and for the kids to run and play and not have to worry about keeping their voices down.

Rooms That Make Life Easy: We want lots of natural light and an oversized kitchen island with room for everyone and everything. We need lots of electrical outlets. And we need closet organization systems in each closet.
