Editor’s Letter
Every
year at this time while we are working on this issue, I find myself getting impatient for the metamorphic signs of spring to arrive: robins populating freshly budded tree branches, warm raindrops washing away the remnants of melted snow and ice, and daffodils pushing their tender stems out from beneath the thawing gray ground. Unfortunately, though, I have a long wait ahead of me. This issue goes to the printer in mid-December, so to tide me over while I dream of sunnier days ahead, I take solace in the creative decorative touches in our featured homes and plan my own springtime room redos.
Transitioning decorative displays from a cozy winter look to a refreshing warm-weather style need not require shelling out lots of money for new accessories. Seasonal makeovers can be as easy as switching heavy coverlets and window treatments for lighter-weight textiles or enlivening tabletops with vessels full of fragrant flowers. Simply rearranging a few displays in every room or refurbishing a furniture piece with an inexpensive coat of paint can give your home a whole new perspective in no time.
While Mother Nature is busy redecorating the outdoors, we hope you will enjoy the abundance of unique ideas within the charming homes in this issue and draw inspiration for your own indoor decorating endeavors.
