Trade a pair of drab bookends for a sweet-looking alternative to organize your favorite reads. Sarah Ramberg turned old berry baskets into adorable fruit-themed bookends that bring a farmers-market vibe to her country home. Follow her step-by-step tutorial to craft your own set.

Materials and Tools

• 2 clean wood berry baskets

• Nonslip shelf liner

• Scissors

• Decoupage medium and paintbrush

• Fruit-print fabric of your choice

• River rocks

• 2 small sealable plastic bags

• Fiberfill

• Rubber bands

Instructions

1. Cut four small squares from the shelf liner. Turn one berry basket over and affix a piece of liner to each corner with decoupage medium. This keeps the basket from sliding while holding the books up.

2. To fill in the gaps in the basket, cut out four pieces of fabric sized to fit in each of the four inside corners. Turn the basket right side up and glue the fabric in place with decoupage medium.

3. Fill a plastic bag with a handful of river rocks and set it in the bottom of the basket.

4. Cut out a large square of fabric, roughly 21/2 times the size of the basket.

5. With the unfinished side of the fabric facing up, place a handful or two of fiberfill in the middle of the square.

Starting with two opposite corners, pull the fabric up toward the middle around the fiberfill. Repeat with the remaining opposite corners and pinch all four corners together. Wrap a rubber band around the gathered ends to close the pouch.

6. Flip the basket insert over and push it into the top of the basket. Dab some decoupage medium along the inside lip of the basket to secure the top in place.

7. Repeat the previous steps to create a second bookend and complete your set.
