Stock your pantry with homemade staples.

Vanilla Extract: Place 6 vanilla beans, split lengthwise, in a tall jar; cover with 2 cups vodka.

Seal jar tightly. Let stand in a cool, dark place for at least six weeks, gently shaking jar once a week.

Spice Mix: Combine ½ cup paprika with 3 Tbsp. each onion powder, garlic powder and cayenne; 2 Tbsp. each white pepper and pepper; and 4 tsp. each salt, dried thyme, oregano, cumin and chili powder.

Use for up to six months on grilled pork, chicken and veggies.

Peanut Butter: Process 2 cups unsalted roasted peanuts and ½ tsp. salt in a food processor for about 5 minutes. Add 1 Tbsp. honey and process until just blended. Store, sealed, in the fridge. Best PB&J ever!
