Starry Night

- Heidi Novak

We paddled across the lake to this tiny island under the Milky Way on a perfect summer night. As the fog rolled in across the lake, we turned off our headlamps so we could see. The loons cried in the distance, and I heard the occasional tail slap of a beaver or a jumping fish. It was so peaceful and quiet. Nothing says country living like stargazing.
