SPECIAL STITCH

Cluster (cl): Holding back last lp of each st on hook, 5 dc as indicated in instructio­ns, yo, pull through all lps on hook, ch 1.

BONNET

Rnd 1: Ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join (see Pattern Notes) in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, 2 dc in each dc around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same dc as beg ch-3, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 4: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, 2 dc in same dc as beg ch-3, sk next dc, cl (see Special Stitches) in next dc, [sk next dc, 3 dc in next dc, sk next dc, cl in next dc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (9 cls, 9 dc groups)

Rnd 5: Sl st in each of next 2 dc, [ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp of cl, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc] around. (18 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 6: Sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same ch-3 sp as beg ch-3, 5 dc in each ch-3 sp around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (90 dc)

Rnds 7 & 8: Sl st in each of next 2 dc, ch 3, 4 dc in same dc as beg ch-3, 5 dc in 3rd dc of each dc group, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Row 9: Now working in rows, sl st in each of first 2 dc, ch 3, 4 dc in same dc as beg ch-3, [5 dc in 3rd dc of next dc group] 14 times, leaving rem 3 dc groups unworked, turn. (15 dc groups)

Row 10: Sl st in each of first 3 dc, ch 3, 4 dc in same dc as beg ch-3, [cl in 3rd dc of next dc group, 5 dc in 3rd dc of next dc group] across, turn. Row 13: Sl st in each of first 2 dc, [ch 2, sk next 2 dc, cl in next dc, ch 2, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc] across, turn. (11 cls)

Row 14: Sl st in first sc, sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same

ch-2 sp as beg ch-1, [ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp] across, turn. (21 ch-3 sps)

Row 15: Sl st into first ch-3 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same ch sp as beg ch-3, [ch 1, sc in next ch sp, ch 1, 5 dc in next ch sp] across, do not turn.

Row 16: Working across ends of row of Bonnet, work 2 sc in end of each row to rnd 8, sc in each st of rnd 8, work 2 sc in end of each row to end of row 15, ch 28 (neck strap), dc in 5th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. Fasten off. Sew button on opposite edge of Strap, using natural sp for buttonhole.
