MATERIALS

• Medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn: 364 yds main color 1–2 oz each of 45 assorted colors • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

3 sc = 1 inch; 3 rows = 1 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. In 2-color rows, work with new colors that differ from previous rows unless otherwise stated. Drop and work over color not in use on wrong side until next needed. Carry same color yarn used on alternate rows up wrong side of rows. Where indicated, follow Charts for stitching sequence. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

AFGHAN

Row 1 (RS): Ch 152 in main color. Dc in the 3rd ch from hook (beg 2 sk chs count as first dc) and in each ch across, change color (see Stitch Guide) in last st to new color, turn. (150 dc) Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, change color to main color, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, dc in each st across, change to first of 2 new colors. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, * dropping first color

(see Pattern Notes), change color in last st made to 2nd color, sc in next 3 sts, dropping 2nd color, change color to first color, sc in next 3 sts, rep from * across, turn.

Row 6: Rep row 5, drop first and 2nd colors to WS (see Pattern Notes), turn. Row 7: Ch 1, dc in each st across, change color to first dropped color of row 6, pick up 2nd dropped color, turn. Rows 8 & 9: Rep row 5, change color to main color and cutting current colors at end of last row. Row 10: Rep row 4. Rows 11–15: Following Chart A (see illustration) for color changes, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Change color to main color at end of row 15 and cut current colors. Row 16: Rep row 4.

Rows 17 & 18: Rep rows 5 and 6. Row 19: Rep row 2, change color to new color. Row 20: Rep row 2, change color to first dropped color of row 18. Pick up 2nd dropped color of row 6. Rows 21 & 22: Rep rows 8 and 9. Row 23: Rep row 4. Note: In rows 24–26, change color as needed at ends of rows so stitching conforms to Chart. Rows 24–26: Following Chart B (see illustration) for color changes, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Change color to main color at end of row and cut current colors. Row 27: Rep row 4, change color to new color.
