PATTERN NOTES

Shawl is worked from side to side. Chain-5 loops are laced to form braid. Chain-12 loops become fringe on bottom (shaped) edge of shawl. Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Top Edge

With RS facing, insert P hook under ch-2 sp of row 2 and under ch-5 lp of row 3, pull same ch-5 lp under ch-2 lp and retain on hook, *insert hook under next 2 ch-5 lps and pull both through lp on hook, insert hook under next ch-5 lp and pull through both lps on hook, rep from * to end. Remove hook carefully.

Bottom (Shaped) Edge

With RS facing, insert P hook under ch-2 sp of row 2 and under ch-5 lp of row 3, pull same ch-5 lp under ch-2 lp and retain on hook, *[insert hook under next 2 ch-5 lps and pull through lp on hook, insert hook under next ch-5 lp and pull though both lps on hook] 35 times*, [insert hook under next lp and pull through lp on hook] 14 times, rep between * once, insert hook under next lp and pull through lp on hook.
