• King Cole Fashion Aran medium (worsted) weight acrylic/wool yarn (31/2 oz/ 219 yds/100g per skein):

8 skeins #318 Kintyre • Size L/11/8mm Tunisian crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge • Size J/10/6mm crochet hook

GAUGE

13 TSS = 3 inches; 13 rows = 4 inches in TSS using size L hook

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Work loops off hook (work lps off hook: Ch 1 (see A of illustration), [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook (see B of illustraball end tion)] across. Last lp on hook counts ball end as first lp of next row. Slip Knot #1

Tunisian Simple Stitch

(TSS): Insert hook from right to left under next vertical bar, yo, draw lp through and leave on hook. Shell: Ch 2, yo, draw through 6 lps on hook, ch 2. Fan: Work 5 dc in indicated st or sp. Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot (see illustration) on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

THROW

Row 1 (foundation row): With size L Tunisian hook, ch 151. Sk first ch, *insert hook in back bar of next ch (see

illustration), yo, draw up a lp, retaining lps on hook, rep from * across, drawing up a lp in each ch. (151 sts)

Work lps off hook (see Special Stitches). Row 2: TSS (see Special

Stitches) across row. Work 3 lps off hook, * shell (see

Special Stitches)**, work 5 lps off hook, rep from * across, ending last rep at **, work 3 lps off hook.

Row 3: Work 3 TSS, *pick up lp in each of next 2 chs, pick up lp in top of shell, pick up lp in each of next 2 chs**, work 5 TSS, rep from * across to last 3 sts ending last rep at **, work 3 TSS. Work lps off hook.

Row 4: TSS across row. Work 8 lps off hook, Slip Slip Knot Knot *shell, #2 #2 work 5 lps off hook, rep from * across to last 3 sts, work 3 lps off hook.

Row 5: Work 8 TSS, *pick up lp in each of next 2 chs, pick up lp in top of shell, pick up lp in each of next 2 chs, work 5 TSS, rep from * across to last 3 sts, work 3 TSS. Work lps off hook.
