MATERIALS • Lily Sugar ’n Cream medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (solids: 21/2 oz/120 yds/71g per ball; ombrés: 2 oz/95 yds/57g per ball): 1 ball each #101712 hot green, #200223 violet veil ombré, #202528 poppy ombré and #100010 yellow • Sizes G/6/4mm and I/9/5.5mm

crochet hooks • Stitch marker • Tapestry needle

GAUGE Gauge is not important for this project. PATTERN NOTES Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Cozy is made in continuous rounds; do not join unless otherwise stated. Place stitch marker in first stitch of first round and move up as each round is completed.

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.

CUP

Rnd 1 (RS): With size I hook

and green, ch 3, join (see Pattern

Notes) in first ch to form a ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, place marker

(see Pattern Notes). (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, do not join (see Pattern

Notes). (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around. (30 sc) Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around.

Rnd 7: Ch 1, working in back lps only (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st around.

Rnds 8–18: Ch 1, sc in each st around. At end of rnd 18, join in first sc. Fasten off. Remove marker.

TOP EDGE

Rnd 1 (RS): Join violet veil in any st of rnd 17, ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 dc in next st, rep from * around, join in first sc. Fasten off.

BOTTOM EDGING

Rnd 1 (RS): Join violet veil in any unworked front lp of rnd 6, ch 1, reverse sc (see Stitch

Guide) in each st, join in first sc. Fasten off. (30 sc)

BUTTERFLY

Row 1 (RS): With size G hook and yellow, ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off.

Row 2: Leaving a 4-inch tail for first antenna, join poppy in first st, (ch 4, 3 tr, ch 4, sl st) in same st (first wing made), [(sl st, ch 3, dc, picot (see Special Stitch), dc, ch 3, sl st) in next st] twice (2nd

and 3rd wings made), (sl st, ch 4, 3 tr, ch 4, sl st) in last st (4th

wing made). Fasten off, leaving a 4-inch tail for 2nd antenna.

FINISHING

Trim tails to 2-inch lengths and make a knot at each end. Sew Butterfly at an angle to center of Cozy.
