HEDGEHOG
HEAD
Rnd 1 (RS): Starting at point of nose with pink, form slip ring
(see illustration), 6 sc in slip ring, pull rem beg length to close opening, place marker and move as work progresses (see
Pattern Notes).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each rem sc around. (7 sc) Rnd 3: Rep rnd 2. (8 sc) Rnd 4: [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] around. (12 sc) Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnds 6–9: [Rep rnds 4 and 5 alternately] twice. (27 sc) Rnd 10: Rep rnd 5. Rnd 11: [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 13 times, sc in last sc. (40 sc)
Rnd 12: Rep rnd 5, join (see
Pattern Notes) in next sc. Fasten off. Stuff Head with fiberfill.
BODY
Rnd 13: Join café latte with sc in sl st of rnd 12, [ sc dec (see
Stitch Guide) in next 2 sc, sc in next sc] 5 times, sc in each of next 25 sc. (35 sc)
Rnd 14: Sc in each of next 19 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in each of next 7 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc. (33 sc)
Rnds 15–23: Rep rnd 5.
Rnd 24: [Sc in each of next 3 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc] 6 times, sc in each of next 3 sc. (27 sc)
Rnds 25–27: Rep rnd 5. At the end of rnd 27, insert plastic canvas in lower portion of underside of Body to keep Hedgehog rem upright; stuff Body with fiberfill and continue stuffing as work progresses.

Make 2. With pink, ch 4, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, (hdc, sl st) in next ch, leaving 8-inch length, fasten off.
FINISHING With length of pink and tapestry needle, sew nose so it points upward slightly. Sew Ears to top of Head over rnd 11, leaving 1-inch sp between Ears. Using photo as a guide for placement, for eyes, thread black on tapestry needle and tie a double knot at end of yarn length. Leaving 4 sc between eyes, insert needle in rnd 8 at position of first eye and have needle exit at rnd 8 for position of 2nd eye;
pull yarn length taut so that double knot is at surface of face and indents face inward slightly. With yarn taut, tie another double knot for 2nd eye. Use needle to hide yarn ends from working Eyes inside of Head. For nose, thread tapestry needle with length of café latte, embroider straight stitches (see illus
tration) 8 times over rnd 1. For mouth, thread needle with red, embroider mouth with straight stitches over rnd 5 of Head. With hairbrush, gently brush Body of Hedgehog to create light fuzz. Insert straight pins into Body of Hedgehog to use for Pincushion.
