Small: 8 inches square Large: 8 inches wide x 11 inches long

MATERIALS

• Peaches & Creme Stripes medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (2 oz/95 yds/57g per ball):

2 balls #4119 seaside stripes • Peaches & Creme Cones medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (14 oz/706 yds/400g per cone)

1 cone #1708 happy go lucky • Sizes F/5/3.75mm and G/6/4mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • 12 metal bottle caps

GAUGE

Size G hook: 3 mesh = 2 inches; 4 mesh rows = 2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of round counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-5 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-2 unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Shell mesh: (Dc, ch 5, dc) in indicated st or sp. Mesh: Ch 2, sk next 2 chs, dc in next ch of st.

CAP COVER

Make 4 for Small & 8 for Large.

Rnd 1 (RS): With size F hook and happy go lucky, ch 4, join

(see Pattern Notes) to form a ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join in beg sc. Rnd 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), hdc in same st as beg ch-2, 2 hdc in each rem st, join in beg ch-2, leaving 16-inch length, fasten off. (24 hdc)

CAP ASSEMBLY

Thread tapestry needle with rem length, with WS facing, insert needle through 12th st across from joining, insert cap under yarn, weave needle back and forth across through every other hdc around edge to enclose, knot to secure. Fasten off. Thread tapestry needle with 16-inch length of yarn, with RS facing, insert needle under hdc in rnd 2 on Cap Cover, [insert needle under hdc of next Cover and sew through both sts once more to secure. Turn piece over

(WS facing) and insert needle under sts across back and up through 6th hdc from joining between Cap Covers, turn piece over to RS], rep between [ ] for rem Cap Covers. Join for Small in 4-cap square and join for Large in rectangle of 2 caps wide x 4 caps long.

SMALL MESH FOUNDATION

Rnd 1: With size F hook and happy go lucky and with RS of 4-cap group facing, make slip

ring (see illustrati­on) on hook, yo, insert hook in top right corner 9th hdc from joining, work ( fpdc— see Stitch Guide, ch 5, fpdc) around same st, *[ch 2, sk 2 sts, fpdc around next hdc] twice, ch 2, sk over joining between caps, sk 2 hdc, fpdc around next hdc, ch 2, sk next 2 hdc, fpdc around next hdc, ch 2, sk next 2 hdc**, (fpdc, ch 5, fpdc) around next hdc, rep from * 3 times, ending last rep at **, join in beg fpdc. (24 mesh)

Rnd 2: With size G hook, ch 5 (see Pattern Notes), [ shell mesh (see Special Stitches) in 3rd ch of

ch-5 sp, work 6 mesh (see Spe

cial Stitches) across edge, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (32 mesh)

Rnd 3: Ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 2, [shell mesh in 3rd ch of ch-5 sp, work 8 mesh across edge, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (40 mesh)

Rnd 4: Ch 5, dc in next dc, work 1 mesh, [shell mesh in 3rd ch of ch-5 sp, work 10 mesh across edge, ch 2] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. Fasten off. (48 mesh)

LARGE MESH FOUNDATION

Rnd 1: With size F hook and happy go lucky, with RS of 2 x
