• Plymouth Yarn Toybox Rainbow medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (31/2 oz/240 yds/100g per skein):

3 [3, 4] skeins #0069 sherbet • Size J/10/6mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • Stitch markers

GAUGE

In pattern: 14 sts = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated. To work in back bar of hdc tilt the top of the hdc st toward you to reveal the third loop of the half double crochet hiding just behind the back loop. Insert hook into this loop. To work in front bar of hdc, tilt the top of the hdc st away from you to reveal the first of the three loops of the half double crochet. Insert hook into this loop. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook

Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in front bar of each hdc across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in back bar of each hdc across, turn. Rep [Rows 2 and 3] until Hood measures approximat­ely 10 [11, 12] inches ending with a WS row. Fold Hood at top, and work a row of sc through both layers to seam. Fasten off.

EDGING Hood

Row 1 (RS): Starting at the bottom right corner on front edge of Hood, join with a sc, ch 3, work 66 [72, 80] dc evenly sp around Hood opening, turn. (67 [73, 81] dc)

Row 2: Ch 3, *bpdc in next st, dc in next st, rep from Annie’s* across. Fasten off.

Sides

Row 1 (RS): Starting at the bottom left corner of Front, join with sc, ch 3, work 92 [100, 110] dc evenly up row edges of Front and down along row edges of Back, turn. (93 [101, 111] dc) Row 2: Ch 3, *bpdc in next st, dc in next st, rep from * across. Fasten off. Rep along the right side of the Poncho, starting at the bottom right corner on Back.

ASSEMBLY

Overlap Hood front edges at neck and sew to edge through both layers. With rib edges facing each side, sew Pocket along upper and lower edge, centered to Front, approximat­ely 3 [31/4, 31/4] inches from bottom edge. Leaving 5 [51/2, 6] inches open for armhole, seam sides tog along 4 inches, leaving rem sides down to bottom edge open for split.
