FINISHED MEASUREMEN­TS 4 inches wide x 51/4 inches long, excluding Strap MATERIALS • Plymouth Yarn Jeannee medium (worsted) weight cotton/acrylic yarn (13/4 oz/110 yds/ 50g per skein): 1 skein #104 blue/white variegated • Size H/8/5mm Tunisian hook or size needed to obtain gauge • Size F/5/3.75 crochet hook • Yarn needle • Straight pins • Craft tape GAUGE Size H Tunisian hook: 4 rows = 1 inch; 5 sts = 1 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

PATTERN STITCH Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS)

Forward pass: With yarn in back, insert hook under front vertical bar from side to side (see illustrati­on), yo, draw up lp.

Return pass: Yo, draw through first lp on hook, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] across until 1 lp rem on hook. Rem lp on hook counts as first st of following row.

POUCH FRONT

Row 1: With size H hook, ch 16, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, retaining all lps on hook, draw up a lp in each ch across, yo, draw through first lp on hook, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] across until 1 lp rem on hook. (16 sts) Rows 2–19: Work TSS (see Pattern Stitch) for each row. At the end of row 19, fasten off.

BACK

Rows 1–19: Rep rows 1–19 of Front.

FIRST POCKET

Rows 1–15: Rep rows 1–15 of Front. At the end of row 16, fasten off. Row 16: With size F hook, join (see Pattern Notes) in last st at left edge, reverse sc (see Stitch Guide) in each st across. Fasten off.

2ND POCKET

Rows 1–11: Rep rows 1–11 of Front. At the end of row 11, fasten off.

Row 12: With size F hook, join yarn in last st at left edge, reverse sc in each st across. Fasten off.

JOINING

Layer Front on Back, then First Pocket and 2nd Pocket on top of Front and pin pieces tog. Thread a 36-inch length of yarn on yarn needle, beg in lower right corner, leaving enough to sew last side and working through all thicknesse­s, whipstitch edges (see illus

tration) tog across bottom and up side edge, secure and fasten off. Thread rem length at beg on yarn needle and working through all thicknesse­s, whipstitch rem side edge tog, secure and fasten off.

TOP TRIM

Rnd 1: With size F hook, join yarn in side seam, ch 1, sc evenly sp around top opening of pouch, join in beg sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around, join in beg reverse sc. Fasten off.

STRAP

For twisted cord, cut a 41⁄ 3- yard (or desired) length of yarn. Fold in half at center and tape fold on hard surface. Holding cut ends tog, twist clockwise until strands beg to buckle and curl, bring ends tog and allow them to twist tog. Tie knot 1 inch from each end. Draw each end with knot through each side seam. Secure Strap on inside edge of each side.
