Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-2 does not count as a stitch unless otherwise stated. When working in front of stitches just made, hold the working yarn behind all stitches in order to form the crossed stitches. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise indicated.

Row 1: With fuchsia, ch 38, working in back bar of ch (see illustrati­on), hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (37 hdc)

Row 2: Ch 1, working in back lps only (see Stitch Guide), hdc in each st across, turn. Row 3: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), cdtr (see Special Stitch) across to last st, dtr in last hdc, turn. (6 cdtr, 1 dtr) Row 4: Ch 1, hdc in each dtr across, change color (see Stitch Guide) to dewberry in last dtr, turn. (37 hdc) Rows 5–7: Rep rows 2–4. At end of last row, change color to fuchsia in last st. Rows 8–10: Rep rows 2–4. At end of last row, change color to dewberry in last st. Rows 11 & 12: Rep rows 2 and 3. Row 13: Ch 1, hdc in each st across to last 2 sts, hdc dec (see Stitch Guide) in last 2 sts, turn. (36 hdc) Row 14: Ch 2, *sk next 3 sts, 3 tr in next st, ch 3, working in front of sts just made, 3 tr in 2nd sk st, sk next st, dc in next st, rep from * across, change color to fuchsia in last dc, turn. Row 21: Ch 1, dc in each st across, turn. Row 22: Ch 1,* fpdc (see Stitch Guide) around each of next 3 dc, bpdc (see Stitch Guide) around each of next 3 dc, rep from * across, turn. (18 fpdc, 18 bpdc)

Rows 23 & 24: Ch 1, *bpdc around each of next 3 dc, fpdc around each of next 3 dc, rep from * across, turn.

Rows 25 & 26: Rep row 22. At end of last row, change color to dewberry in last st.

Row 27: Ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn. (36 hdc) Rows 28–30: Rep rows 18–20. Row 31: Ch 2, cdtr across, dtr again in last hdc, turn. (6 cdtr, 1 dtr) Row 32: Ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn. (37 hdc)

Row 33: Ch 1, working in back lps only, hdc in each st across, change color to fuchsia in last st, turn. Rows 34 & 35: Rep rows 2 and 3. Row 36: Rep row 32. Row 37: Ch 1, working in back lps only, hdc in each st across, change color to dewberry in last st, turn.
