SPECIAL STITCHES
Bead single crochet (bead sc): Leave lp on hook size C and hold off to the side, with steel hook, yo and draw lp through bead, place new lp on size C hook (2 lps on hook), yo and draw through both lps on hook. Single crochet around ring (sc aroundfree end ring): Place slip knot (see illustration) on hook, insert hook front to back around ring, free yo end and draw up a lp (2 lps on hook), yo and draw through both lps on hook.
Bead chain (bead ch): With steel hook, yo and draw lp through bead, place lp on size C hook, yo, draw through lp on hook.

Rnd 1: With robin’s egg [white], ch 40, using care not to twist, join with raspberry [ocean] to form ring, [ch 3, bead ch, ch 13, sl st around ring, ch 18, sk next 7 chs on center ch-40, sl st in next ch] around, ending with last sl st in joining. Since next part is worked by weaving in and out of first color, to prevent tangles wind 8 yds of lavender [lime] in mini hank and cut from ball. Join mini hank color in 4th ch of any sk ch-7 of beg ch-40, [working in front of next strand of first color, ch 3, bead ch, ch 13, sl st around ring, ch 18, drop lp from hook and place behind next strand of first color, sl st in 4th ch of next sk ch-7 of beg ch-40] around, ending with last sl st in joining. (12 bead sc, 12 ch-13 lps) Rnd 4: Join lime [lavender] in 7th ch of any ch-13, [ch 15, sl st in 7th ch of next ch-13] around, ch 15, join in beg sl st. Fasten off. Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc around ring working same number of sc sts between each sl st to balance and fill ring, (there will be little V shapes separated by ch-10s), join in beg sc. Fasten off.
ASSEMBLY
Using photo as a guide, arrange rings on a large flat surface or as desired. Tie 1 end of monofilament around bottom of 1 ring, weave end of filament in yarn. Cut monofilament to desired length between rings. If desired, string a bead on monofilament and tie a knot under bead to keep it in place. Tie other end of monofilament around ring to hang below it. Rep until strand looks the way you want it to. Then tie another length of monofilament to connect top ring to branch or dowel. Rep with rem strands as desired.
