PATTERN NOTES
Chain-5 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and ch-2 unless otherwise stated. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Beginning popcorn (beg pc):
Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), 3 dc as indicated in instructions, drop lp from hook, insert hook in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, pull dropped lp through.
Popcorn (pc): 4 dc as indicated in instructions, drop lp from hook, insert hook in top of first dc of dc group, pull dropped lp through.
Picot loop (picot lp): Ch 7, sl st in back lp of 7th ch from hook. Picot loop join (picot lp join): Ch 3, insert hook in corresponding picot lp on completed Block, yo, pull lp through picot lp and lp on hook, ch 3, sl st in first ch.
Chain-3 join (ch-3 join): Ch 1, insert hook in corresponding ch-3 sp on completed Block, yo, pull lp through ch sp and lp on hook, ch 1.
THROW FIRST BLOCK
Rnd 1: Ch 6, sl st in 6th ch from hook to form ring, ch 5 (see Pattern Notes), [dc in ring, ch 2] 7 times, join (see Pattern Notes) in 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (8 dc, 8 ch-2 sps) Rnd 2: Sl st in first ch-2 sp, beg pc (see Special Stitches) in same ch sp as last sl st, ch 4, [ pc (see Special Stitches) in next ch-2 sp, ch 4] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (8 pc, 8 ch-4 sps) Rnd 3: Sl st in first ch-4 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch sp as beg ch-3, * picot lp (see Special
Stitches)**, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each of next 2 ch-4 sps, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in last ch-4 sp, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
2ND & REM BLOCKS Rnds 1 & 2: Rep rnds 1 and 2 of First Block. Rnd 3 joining: Sl st in first ch-4 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch sp as beg ch-3, picot lp, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each of next 2 ch-4 sps, picot lp join (see Special Stitches), *(3 dc, ch-3 join— see
Special Stitches, 3 dc) in each of next 2 ch-4 sps, picot lp join*, rep between * for each side to be joined, continue around in same manner as First Block. Make and assemble in color pattern according to diagram or as desired.
