PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Join double crochet rounds in beginning stitch; do not join single crochet rounds in beginning stitch. Move markers up as each round progresses. When changing color in sections shown on Charts, work last stitch of current color to last yarn over (2 loops on hook), drop current color, pick up next color, carrying current color on wrong side, yarn over and pull next color through last 2 loops. Carry and work over color not in use on back side of piece as next color is worked. Do not cut yarn until instructed.

POUCHES

TALL POUCH Sides With Mexican rose, ch 80, join (see Pattern Notes) in first ch to form a ring. Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each ch around, join (see Pattern Notes) in top of beg ch-3. (80 dc) Rnds 2 & 3: Ch 3, [ fpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, dc in next st] around, fpdc around last st, join in top of beg ch-3, at end of rnd 3, change color (see

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, place first marker in st just made, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next dc, place 2nd marker in last st made, sc in each of next 35 dc, sc in next dc, place 3rd marker in last st made, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next dc, place 4th marker in last st made, sc in each of next 35 dc. Rnd 11: Rep rnd 7, change color to salmon at end of rnd. (88 sc)

Rnds 13 & 14: Working in back lps, sc in each of next 9 sc across first short side, sc in each of next 35 sts, referring to Tall Pouch Chart and changing colors (see Pattern Notes) as indicated, sc in each of next 9 sc across other short side, sc in each of next 35 sts, referring to Tall Pouch Chart and changing colors as indicated.

Rnd 15: Rep rnd 7, referring to Tall Pouch Chart for long sides and changing colors as indicated. Rnds 16–18: Rep rnd 13. At end of rnd 18, cut Mexican rose. Rnd 19: Rep rnd 15.

Rnds 20–23: Rep rnds 16–19. At end of rnd 23, cut teal.

Rnd 24: Working in back lps, sc in each sc around, change color to Mexican rose. (96 sc)

Rnds 25 & 26: Working in back lps, sc in each sc around, at end of last rnd, change color to mint in last st.

Rnd 27: Working in back lps, sc in each sc around. Fasten off.

Bottom

With mint, ch 16.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (15 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Rep row 2 until piece has the same measure as long side on Sides.

ASSEMBLY

Hold Sides in rectangula­r shape. Matching corners, position Bottom at lower edge of Sides. Working through both thicknesse­s, join mint in any corner, ch 1, sc evenly sp around, join in beg sc. Fasten off.

Insert Zipper

Pin top edges of Pouch to each side of zipper tape, with zipper tab close to 1 short end and crimped end of zipper tucked and pinned to other short end. Allow edges to lie where desired, meeting over coils or teeth of zipper or on each side of coils or teeth.

Open zipper and with sewing needle and matching thread, work small backstitch­es (see

illustrati­on) 1/4 inch from center of zipper. Tack crimped end of zipper to Pouch. Secure thread tightly.

Zipper Pull

Cut 2 20-inch strands in desired colors. Pull strands through hole on zipper tab and fold in half. Holding all strands tog, twist tightly until they resist, then tie a knot 3 inches from tab. Pull ends through wooden bead and tie a knot on the other side of bead. Trim ends evenly.

Fringe

For each Fringe, cut 2 4-inch strands of salmon, hold tog and fold in half. Insert hook from RS in any st of rnd 5, pull folded end through, pull ends through fold, pull ends to tighten knot

Work Fringe in every other st around. Trim ends evenly.

WIDE POUCH

Sides With denim, ch 88, join (see Pattern Notes) in first ch to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 3, dc in each ch around, join in top of beg ch-3. (88 dc) Rnds 2 & 3: Ch 3, [ fpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, dc in next st] around, fpdc around last st, join in top of beg ch-3, at end of rnd 3, change color (see

Stitch Guide) to coral in join. Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, place first marker in st just made, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next dc, place 2nd marker in last st made, sc in each of next 39 dc, sc in next dc, place 3rd marker in last st made, sc in each of next 3 dc, sc in next dc, place 4th marker in last st made, sc in each of next 39 dc. Do not join (see Pattern Notes). Rnds 5 & 6 (inc): Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide), 2 sc in st with first marker, moving marker (see Pattern

Notes) to first sc made, sc in each sc to st with 2nd marker, 2 sc in next st, moving marker to last sc made, sc in each sc to st with 3rd marker, 2 sc in next st, moving marker to first of the last 2 sc made, sc in each sc to st with 4th marker, 2 sc in next st, moving marker to last sc made, sc in each sc to end. ASSEMBLY

Lay Pouch flat and sew tog the opening at bottom.

Insert Zipper

Insert zipper in same manner as Tall Pouch.

Zipper Pull

Decorate zipper by pulling 3 strands in desired colors through tab hole and braiding the strands tog. Tie a knot 3 inches from the clasp. Pull tails through a bead and tie a knot on the other side of the bead. Trim ends evenly.
