FINISHED SIZE

71/2 inches long

MATERIALS

• Medium (worsted) weight yarn (6 oz/312 yds/ 170g per skein): 3 oz/156 yds/85g winter white 1 oz/52 yds/28g dark green • Light (light worsted) weight yarn (21/2 oz/165 yds/70g per skein): 1/2 oz/33 yds/14g each red

and white 2 yds each green and orange • Sizes D/3/3.25mm and I/9/5.5mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge • Yarn needle • Embroidery needle • 1 yd black embroidery floss • Stitch marker

GAUGE

Size I hook: 7 sc = 2 inches; 7 sc rnds = 2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Use stitch marker to mark rounds. Chain-3 at beginning of rounds counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SLIPPER Make 2. FOOT

Rnd 1: With size I hook, beg at toe with dark green, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join, place st marker (see Pattern Notes). (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: [Sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (21 sc)

Rnd 5: [Sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (24 sc) Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 7: Rep rnd 6, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Rnd 8: Join winter white with sc in first st, sc in each st around. (24 sc)

Rnds 9–19: Rep rnd 6. At the end of last rep, fasten off. Note: Work additional or fewer sc rnds to change length of Slipper based on number of rnds per inch.

Heel

Row 20: Now working in rows, join dark green with sc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of first sc of rnd 19, sc in back lp of each of next 13 sts, turn. (14 sc) Rows 21–26: Ch 1, working in back lps, sc in each sc across, turn. (14 sc) Row 27: Ch 1, working in back lps, [ sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sc] 7 times, turn. Fasten off. (7 sc) Heel Shaping With Heel facing and toe facing out, rejoin dark green with sc in bottom right side of first row of Heel, [sc dec in next 2 sts] 3 times, 1 sc up side of heel, sc dec in next 2 sc, draw up lp in each of next 3 sc, yo and draw through all lps, sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, [sc dec in next 2 sts] 3 times, 1 sc down left side of Heel. Fasten off dark green. (13 sc)

Rnd 28: Join winter white with sc in next winter white sc unworked on rnd 20, sc in each of next 3 sc, [2 sc in next sc] twice, sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in each of next 13 sc of Heel, mark next st for beg of rnd. (25 sc)

Rnd 29: Sc in each of next 18 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 6 sc. (26 sc)

Rnds 30–36: Sc in each sc around. At the end of last rep, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Rnd 37: Join dark green in first sc with sl st, ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each st around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (26 dc)

Rnd 38: Ch 3, [ bpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next dc, fpdc (see

Stitch Guide) around next dc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 39: Ch 3, bpdc around bpdc, fpdc around fpdc] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

SNOWMAN

Rnd 1: Beg at top of Head with size D hook and white, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join, place st marker (see Pattern Notes). (6 sc) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc) Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 4 & 5: Rep rnd 3. Rnd 6: Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide), [ sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts] around. (6 sc) Rnd 7: Rep rnd 2. Rnd 8: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnds 9–15: Rep rnd 3. Rnd 16: [Sc dec in next 2 sc] around. Leaving 6-inch length, fasten off. (9 sc) Stuff Snowman lightly with fiberfill; to define legs, work back st up

center bottom of body through all thicknesse­s about 1/2 inch. Define arms in same manner on each side of body from shoulder to row adjacent with top of leg.

NOSE

With size D hook and orange, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each of next 2 chs. Leaving 6-inch length, fasten off. Fold Nose in half lengthwise and sew in place on Snowman.

EYES & BUTTONS

With black embroidery floss, embroider 2 French knot (see illu

stration) eyes and 3 French knot buttons down center front of body.

MOUTH

With black embroidery floss, using straight stitch (see illustrati­on), embroider a V-shape Mouth centered below Nose.

SCARF

Row 1: With size D hook and green, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across. Fasten off. Sew Scarf in place around neckline.

HAT

Row 1: With size D hook and red, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (4 sc) Rows 2–12: Ch 1, working in back lp (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st across, turn. At the end of row 12, do not turn. Row 13: Ch 1, working across long edge, work 1 sc in each row across, turn. (12 sc)

Rows 14 & 15: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 16: Ch 1, [sc in each of next 2 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc] across, turn. (9 sc)

Row 17: Ch 1, [sc in next sc, sc dec in next 2 sc] across, turn. (6 sc)

Row 18: Ch 1, [sc dec in next 2 sc] 3 times, turn. (3 sc) Row 19: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sc, turn. (1 sc)

Rows 20–29: Ch 1, sc in next sc, turn. At the end of row 29, fasten off. Tie last 10 rows in a knot on top of Hat. Sew back seam. Fold brim upward and sew Hat in place.

POCKET

Row 1: Beg at top edge, with size D hook and red, ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (12 sc)

Rows 2–8: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 9: Ch 1, [sc dec in next 2 sc] across. Fasten off. Sew Pocket in place on outside of left Slipper. Place Snowman in the Pocket.
