2 ext sc = 1 inch; Rows 3–5 = 1 inch

Mark first stitch of row. Move marker up as work progresses. Work the chain-6 loops with a tighter tension.

SPECIAL STITCH

Extended single crochet (ext

sc): Insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (ch-1 completed), yo, pull through 2 lps on hook.

Make 1 in each color. Row 1 (WS): Ch 44, working in back bar of ch (see illustration), ext sc (see Special Stitch) in 3rd ch from hook (2 sk chs do not count as a st) and in each ch across. Turn.
