PATTERN NOTES

Shawl Ring requires a very small amount of yarn. Remaining yarn from Garden Steps Shawlette on page 20 can be used to make this project. Shawl Ring is crocheted around a thin bangle bracelet. Using the larger hook for the first round (which covers the bracelet) allows for some ease when inserting the smaller hook in the stitches in the 2nd round. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of round counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-4 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-2 unless otherwise stated.

SHAWL RING

Rnd 1: With larger hook (see Pattern Notes), sc around ring (see illustration), continue to sc around ring until ring is evenly covered, ending with an even number of sts, join (see Pattern Notes) to beg sc.

VARIATION 1 (Top Ring)

Rnd 2: With smaller hook and RS facing, ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), hdc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of each sc, join in top of beg ch-2, fasten off.

VARIATION 2 (Bottom Ring)

Rnd 2: With smaller hook and RS facing, ch 4 (see Pattern Notes), *sk next sc, dc in next st, ch 2, rep from * around, join in 2nd ch of beg ch-4, fasten off.
