MATERIALS

• King Cole Cottonsoft DK light (DK) weight cotton yarn (31/2 oz/229 yds/100g per skein): 5 skeins #1604 raspberry

• Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• La Mode #4777A crystal 5/8-inch (16mm) buttons: 8

• La Mode #24837A antique silver 3/4-inch (19mm) buttons: 6

GAUGE

4 shells = 4 inches; 12 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-5 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet and chain-2 unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Shell: Dc in indicated st or sp, (ch 2, dc) twice in same st or sp as dc.

WRAP

Row 1 (RS): Ch 304, shell (see Special Stitch) in 6th ch from hook (5 sk chs count as first dc

and 2 sk chs), [sk each of next 4 chs, shell in next ch] across to last 3 chs, sk each of next 2 chs, dc in last ch, turn. (60 shells) Row 2: Ch 5 (see Pattern Notes), sc in next ch-2 sp, [ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp] across to last 2 dc, ch 2, sk next dc, dc in last dc, turn. (120 ch-3 sps) Row 3: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes) sk next ch-2 sp, shell in next ch-3 sp, [sk next ch-3 sp, shell in next ch-3 sp] across to last ch-2 sp, dc in last dc, turn. (60 shells)

Rows 4–55: [Rep rows 2 and 3 alternatel­y] 21 times.

Row 56: Rep row 2. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Block lightly if desired. With WS facing, sew 8 clear buttons evenly along 1 short end of Wrap. Attach 6 silver buttons along long end as follows: With RS facing, beg at same end that clear buttons were attached, count left to 5th shell of final row, sew button to center post of shell, [sk next 2 shells, sew button to center post of next shell] across until all 6 buttons are attached.
