Circumfere­nce: 71/2 inches Height: 23/4 inches

MATERIALS

• Lily Sugar ’n Cream medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (solids: 21/2 oz/120 yds/ 71g per ball; ombrés: 2 oz/95 yds/57g per ball): 1 ball each #202747 Capri ombré and #101131 dazzle blue

• Size G/6/4mm aluminum crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• Stitch markers

GAUGE

4 sc = 1 inch; 3 rows = 1 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Aluminum hook is recommende­d for ease of stitching with cotton yarn, especially through double thickness of Side. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Base of Cozy is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join unless otherwise stated. Place marker on first stitch and move up as each round is completed. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join): Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.

COZY BASE

Make 2. Rnd 1: With 1 strand blue, ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker (see Pattern Notes). (8 sc) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)

Rnd 3: [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 8 times. (24 sc)

Rnd 4: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts] 8 times. (32 sc)

Rnd 5: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts] 8 times. (40 sc)

Rnd 6: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts] 8 times. (48 sc) Rnd 7: Sc in each st around. Rnd 8: Sc in each st around,

join (see Pattern Notes) in first sc of rnd. Fasten off.

SIDE

Rnd 1 (RS): With WS of Bases held tog and 2 strands held tog, sc join (see Special Stitch) blue in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of any st of first layer and both lps of correspond­ing st of 2nd layer, dc in same st (inc made), inserting hook in same manner in both layers throughout, sc in each of next 5 sts, [(sc, dc) in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts] around, join in first sc of rnd, place st marker in join. Fasten off blue. (48 sc, 8 dc)

Rnd 2: With RS facing, sc join 1 strand each blue and Capri in marked st, [ fpdc (see Stitch

Guide) around post of next dc, sc in each of next 6 sts, place st marker in last sc made] 7 times, fpdc around post of next dc, sc in each of next 5 sts, join in first sc of rnd. (48 sc, 8 fpdc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, [fpdc around post of next fpdc, sc in each st to next marker, 2 sc in marked st] 7 times, fpdc around post of next fpdc, sc in each rem st, sc in same st as first sc of rnd, join to top of first sc of rnd. (56 sc, 8 fpdc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, [fpdc around post of next fpdc, sc in each st to next fpdc, place st marker in last sc made] 7 times, fpdc around post of next fpdc, sc in each rem st, join in first sc of rnd. Rnd 5: Rep rnd 3. (64 sc, 8 fpdc)

Rnds 6 & 7: Rep rnd 4 twice, removing markers at end of rnd 7. At end of rnd 7, fasten off.

Rnd 8: With inside of Cozy facing, sc join 2 strands blue in any fpdc, sk next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, [3 dc in next st] twice, 2 dc in next st, sk next 2 sts, *sc in next fpdc, sk next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, [3 dc in next st] twice, 2 dc in next st, sk 2 sts, rep from * around, join in first sc of rnd. Fasten off blue. (80 dc)
