6 ch-6 sps = 5 inches; 5 rows = 5 inches Fan motif rows 1 and 2 = approximately 21/2 inches long
PATTERN NOTES
Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-9 at beginning of row counts as double crochet and chain-6 space. Before working row 1 of fan motif, count ahead and place stitch markers in chain-6 spaces where fan motif is to be worked to avoid miscounting and misplacement of motifs.

FRINGE
Cut 164 12-inch lengths of yarn. With 4 strands held tog, fold strands in half and draw through center ch-4 sp of row 1. Rep in rem ch-4 sps. Attach fringe in same manner in each end of odd-numbered rows, matching color to end of row as desired.
