MATERIALS
• Omega Sinfonia light (DK) weight mercerized cotton yarn (31/2 oz/ 218 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein each #803 black, #823 garnet, #825 Mexican rose, #836 magenta and #837 dark magenta • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook • Tapestry needle • Sewing needle • Matching sewing thread • Decorative button: 4 • Size 4 snap fastener • Size 3 snap fasteners: 4 • Stitch marker
GAUGE
Gauge is not important for this project.
PATTERN NOTES
Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Beginning V-stitch (beg V-st): Dc in 5th ch from hook. V-stitch (V-st): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in indicated st.
Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated ch sp.
HEADBAND
With black, ch 101, sc in 2nd ch from hook in
back
bar of ch (see illustration), sc in each back bar of each rem ch across, do not turn. (100 sc)
Rnd 2: Now working around the top of foundation ch of row 1, sc in each of next 100 chs on each side of foundation ch, join in first sc. Place marker in last st of rnd 2. (200 sc) Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as beg ch-1, sc in each rem sc around, join in beg sc. Fasten off. (201 sc) Sew first half of size 3 snap fastener to end of Headband. Try on Headband, mark band for placement of rem half of snap fasteners, sew rem half to Headband. Sew another size 3 snap fastener 7 inches from end of headband. Rem half of snap fastener will be sewn to center back of Headband Flower. Block Headband only.
HEADBAND FLOWER
Row 1: With garnet, ch 50, beg V-st (see Special Stitches), [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st (see Special Stitches) in next ch] 15 times, turn. (16 V-sts)
Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes),
shell (see Special Stitches) in ch-2 sp of V-st, [ch 1, shell in next ch-2 sp of V-st] 15 times, turn. (15 shells)
Row 3: Ch 3, [10 tr in ch-2 sp of shell, sc in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 8 times, [6 hdc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] twice, 6 hdc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sk 2 dc, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. With a length of garnet, roll Flower up and secure foundation ch to maintain position of petals. Sew rem half of snap fastener to center back of Flower. Sew decorative button to center of Flower.
CAP FLOWER First Flower
Row 1: With magenta, ch 35, beg V-st (see Special Stitches), [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st (see Special Stitches) in next ch] 10 times, turn. (11 V-sts) Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes),
shell (see Special Stitches) in ch-2 sp of V-st, [ch 1, shell in next ch-2 sp of V-st] 10 times, turn. (11 shells)
Row 3: Ch 2, [10 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
2nd Flower
Row 1: With dark magenta, ch 29, beg V-st, [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st in next ch] 8 times, turn. (9 V-sts)
Row 2: Ch 2, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of V-st, sl st in ch-1 sp] 8 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of V-st, sl st in next ch of beg ch-5. Fasten off. Holding dark magenta Flower on top of magenta Flower, with a length of magenta, roll Flowers up and secure foundation ch to maintain position of petals. Sew size 4 snap fastener to center back of Flower and Cap. Sew decorative button to center of Flower.
FLIP-FLOP FLOWERS
Make 2. Row 1: With rose, ch 35, beg V-st (see Special Stitches), [ch 1, sk next 2 chs, V-st (see Special Stitches) in next ch] 10 times, turn. (11 V-sts) Row 2: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), shell (see Special
Stitches) in ch-2 sp of V-st, [ch 1, shell in next ch-2 sp of V-st] 10 times, turn. (11 shells)
Row 3: Ch 2, [10 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, [8 dc in ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp of shell, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. With a length of rose, roll each Flower up and secure foundation ch to maintain position of petals. Attach size 3 snap fastener to center back of each Flower and to center front of flip-flops. Sew decorative button to center of each flower.
