• DMC Natura Denim medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (13/4 oz/ 82 yds/50g per ball):
2 balls #136 sanded oak • Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook • Tapestry needle • Stitch marker
GAUGE
Rnds 1–4 = 33/4 inches; 5 lg V-sts = 4 inches Gauge is not critical for this project.
PATTERN NOTES
Finished size is approximate as the final crochet fabric is very stretchy. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Work in continuous rounds; do not join unless otherwise stated. Place stitch marker in first stitch of round and move up as each round is completed. Rounds 1–5 end with chain-1. When instructed to work in a V-stitch, work in the chain space of the stitch. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Small V-stitch (sm V-st): (Hdc, ch 1, hdc) in indicated st or sp. Large V-stitch (lg V-st): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in indicated st or sp.
BASKET
Rnd 1: Make a slip ring (see illustration), ch 2 (counts as sc, ch 1), [hdc, ch 1] 7 times in ring.
