• Knit One, Crochet Too Ty-Dy Cotton medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (31/2 oz/196 yds/100g per ball):

2 balls #289 painted desert • Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • Purse handles: 1 pair

GAUGE

In dc/sc pattern: 19 sts = 6 inches; 12 rows = 6 inches

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Chain-2 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Love knot (LK): Draw up lp on hook to 1/2 inch, ch 1, sc in sp between single and double strands (to close st—see illustrati­on). A

Row 1: Ch 38, dc in 3rd ch from hook (beg sk chs count as first dc), dc in each ch across, turn. (37 dc) Row 2: Ch 1, * fpsc (see Stitch Guide) around next dc, bpsc (see Stitch Guide) around next dc, rep from * to last st, sc in top of last st, turn. (37 sc) Row 3: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each st across, turn. Row 4: Rep row 2. Rows 5–12: [Rep rows 3 and 4] 4 times. Row 13: Ch 2, * LK (see Special Stitch), sk next 2 sc, dc in next sc, rep from * across, turn. Rows 14–18: Ch 2, *LK, sk next LK, dc in next dc, rep from * across, turn. Rows 19–66: [Rep rows 3 and 4] 24 times. Do not fasten off. Edging Rotate tote and work in ends of rows across top edge.
